SWEET & SOUR MEATBALLS 

Ingredients: 

2 packs (250 g each) PUREFOODS HEAT & EAT CHICKEN MEATBALLS 

2 cups cooking oil 

Sauce: 1 pc (50 g) red onion, quartered 

1 can (227 g) pineapple chunks, drained 

1/2 cup cane vinegar 1 cup sugar 2 tbsp soy sauce 

1/4 cup banana ketchup 

2 tbsp cornstarch, dissolved in 1 cup water 

1/2 tsp iodized fine salt 1/4 tsp pepper 

Procedure: 

Fry meatballs in a deep pan with hot oil for 2 minutes or until golden brown. 

Drain excess oil on paper towels and set aside. 

In a saucepan, add 2 tbsp used oil. Sauté onion, then add remaining ingredients. 

Stir continuously until mixture simmers and thickens. 

Adjust seasonings as needed. Add cooked meatballs and simmer once. 

Makes 4-5 servings (Yield: 20-24 pc/4 pc per serving)

John Lloyd Back in TV Ad, Thanks to Turks

Who else missed this award-winning actor, aside from yours truly? After two years, we are glad, he decided to comeback in the limelight where we love him most. At least for now, in a TV commercial.

Could this be your comeback year, John Lloyd Cruz?

Cruz, one of the most bankable actors of the Philippine cinema and very effective endorser once again proved that his fans are still waiting for his return. In a teaser video, which lasted only for a few seconds and only shows the back shot of Cruz’s, and posted in the Facebook page of the number one selling shawarma Turks a few weeks ago had been viewed 3.2M times, shared almost 800 times and gained a huge number of comments.

Without any clue in that teaser video, his fans already assumed that it was him in the video. Actress Bea Alonzo on her Instagram also posted a screenshot of that teaser video, which garnered almost a million likes.

The rugged look of Cruz in the Turks video titled Ang Pagbabalik is way too far from his guy-next-door image and a lot of people in the industry are asking if this signals his return to the limelight. His fans are still wondering about the life he’s been living since his hiatus.

According to Turks president Gem L. Zenarosa that during the course of his talks with Cruz, they never talked anything about his showbiz career or plans. He added that he got Mr. Cruz as the latest ambassador of Turks because of his great confidence working with Cruz.

“I am really grateful that John Lloyd trusts our company, he is a brilliant and very creative young man. Aside from acting we have discovered some of his remarkable talents,” Zenarosa stressed.

In  time for the release of Cruz’s endorsement video, Turks also released to the market its newest offering — Turks Rice Bowl, which is a complete meal. You can choose beef or chicken for your rice topping, and it is priced at P50. The Small Pita Donner on the other hand, is priced at P35.

Joseph “Otep” Bañez, who made his own brand of Filipino Pop-Social Realism that took the market by storm, creates detailed renditions combined with playful colors and hilarious settings.

Alongside these artists, celebrity and visual artist Heart Evangelista-Escudero plus radio DJ Chico Garcia celebrated the launch as official event hosts for this prestigious event.

 Aside from this expansion, Cowboy Grill kick started the change with the introduction of the Hot & Ready take-out counter. Starting 9 a.m., the take-out counter opens its patrons to enjoy Cowboy Grill bestsellers on its off-hours. The company has also introduced its catering services, as well as delivery functions.

 “We are a one-stop shop for your dining needs. People think that Cowboy Grill is just a bar, no kids allowed. We want to change that perception. This year, we are working on re-introducing Cowboy Grill as a restaurant and bar. We are shifting from entertainment to family-oriented dining concept, extending our operation hours from 6p.m. to 5a.m. to 10a.m. to 5a..m., Mr. Caasi continued. “Aside from the main dining and live bands, we will focus on catering and function services, as well as delivery and takeout.”


Its loyal customers who always come to Cowboy Grill because of its live bands need not worry. The restaurant will retain the live band aspect of the business. Today, Cowboy Grill has a roster of approximately 30 bands performing different music genres. The bands have already gained their strong following among the customers.

 

“Cowboy Grill has always been synonymous with live bands. We will keep that concept. We are still looking at how to integrate the two concepts. Who knows we might even introduce acoustic performances with slow, chill music during the daytime, while they’ll be a full-set up for live bands at night. This year’s expansions and changes are just the turning points, leading to our 25th anniversary next year.”

 

Through the years, Cowboy Grill manages to maintain its growing business, anchored on good food, good service and quality entertainment and they shall continue to do so for many years to come.

“We had a significant growth in sales, thanks to Ai Ai.” shares Mr. Co. “That’s why we got her again because she is an effective endorser. We will have a palengke tour again. Our products are very popular in the provinces as well.”
