If you’re craving for sweets and more sweets by a different pastry chef, I strongly recommend you try out ROME’s PATISSERIE by fast-rising Chef Rome Miranda who owns and operates his pastry stand located in the bustling University Mall who’s neighbor is the popular De La Salle University along Taft Avenue, Manila.
Yours truly who’s got sweet tooth did not pass up the chance of a recent “Pastry Party” among bloggers with the chef himself thanks to the irresistable invite of fellow blogger Pepi de Leon.
Chef of the Hour
After obtaining his degree from the College of St. Benilde, Chef Rome worked for Krispy Kreme and was even a pastry chef of a cruise ship for a good number of years. Tucked with the skill and knowledge of baking and whipping up his favorite pastries, “It’s my dream to put up a business of my own,” declared Chef Rome.
But before doing so, he participated and showcased his yummy and tasty sweets at a local bazaar. It was well-attended and his buyers liked his creations and got great feedbacks.
Who is his idol chef? I asked. “It would be Chef Pierre Hermé, known to be the “Picasso of Pastry”. He is also famous for his unique French macarons.”
So armed with motivation and inspiration. next item up on his business agenda was where to set up his initial venture in the cakes & pastry biz.
Patisserie Stand of His Own
His dream came true on September 15, 2013 when self-branded Rome’s Patisserie stand opened to the public. Conveniently located near his alma mater, Chef Rome’s target buyers are the students and employees in the area.
The menu consists of bars, brownies, eclairs, cupcakes, cookies and cheesecakes with prices ranging from P30 to P850. Not bad!
He adds, “I want them (buyer) to have my pastry’s full flavor without paying too much.”
Chef Rome also targets supplying his blockbuster pastry line in various coffee shops and restaurants. Gooo chef! Goood Luck!
My Personal Verdict
It was my first time to taste Chef Rome’s creations and I must say they’re very good! Not being biased there. I must say my fellow blogger associates thought of the same. The bars and the cupcake’s texture very soft and will surely linger in your palettes. I liked the revel bar, food for the gods and brookies very much and they stood out! The “brookie” by the way is a cute combo of brownie & cookie and I’m told is a hit bestseller! Giving it a 2 thumbs up!
