Friendship Goals With These Guys

Last February 24, 2018 I posted this photo in my Facebook Page with the entry:

The times and chikkahan and planning of career (and gimmick) look sunny and bright!
Watch out 2018!

Say “Hello” to my new friends, Edz and Mike who both work at a popular grocery chain here in the Philippines.  I actually first encountered Edz back in December 31 2017 New Year’s Eve when he assisted in slicing the pork cubes I bought into thinner and smaller parts. Edz is assigned at the Pork and Beef Section while Mike assists for the poultry/chicken section.

But it was not only until the first week of February this year that my encounter with Edz happened for the second time when he helped out in my rice supply need. I almost forgot he was from the meat section! Then came Valentine’s 2018 week and on the 13th I finally had the courage Edz what his name was? Pretty surprised, he was taken aback but still gave his last name.

From out of the blue, I greeted him advanced Happy Valentine’s Day and that I guess unlocked his kinda strict stance. For the first time in two months, I saw Edz smile and ask me how was I going to celebrate the Day of Hearts?

Interested in finding out what happened next?

I will continue and share in my next blog post, dear friends! So please just hang in there for the rest of this cute friendship story…

Marvel’s Black Panther in SM Cinemas

Get ready for an action-packed Valentines this February as Marvel’s The Black Panther comes out with expanded scenes on IMAX!

Last seen aiding the fleeing Steve Rogers in Captain America: Civil War, witness T’Challa (Black Panther)embrace his new role as the ruler and protector of the majestic kingdom of Wakanda.

Having the biggest and only reserve of vibranium, the strongest, most durable metal in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (Captain America’s shield is made out of vibranium!), Wakanda has taken enormous progress in technology, this is the same reason the nation is threatened by Ulysses Klaue,a high-level criminal and the would-be usurper Erik Stevens, aka Killmonger.

Now, T’Challa as Black Panther along with the Dora Milaje, the all-female Wakandan security force, have to protect their kingdom and save the world from the formidable enemy forces.

The Black Panther movie experience becomes even better at IMAX theatres. With at least 50 minutes of the movie expanding to fit IMAX®screens, audiences will be treated to an even more immersive movie experience. The expanded 1.9:1 aspect ratio and IMAX’s customized theatre geometry and powerful digital audio will transport you to Black Panther’s kingdom. Discover Wakanda’s Tribal Council, the Wakandan hive of research and development; the ancient subterranean Hall of Kings; and the stunning Warrior Falls, the ceremonial heart of Wakanda’s revered traditions.

SM Cinema also brings to you a reel-to-real experience with an interactive display of the mythical African nation with The Secrets of Wakanda. Get a glimpse of the Vibranium cave, Warriors of Wakanda costume gallery and, a life-size figurine of the Black Panther himself. The exhibit can be seen at the SM City Fairview on February 22, and SM City San Lazaro on March 8.

Starring Chadwick Boseman (T’Challa/Black Panther), Michael B. Jordan (Erik Stevens/Killmonger), Academy award winner Lupita Nyong’o (Nakia), Danai Gurira (Okoye) and, Forest Whitaker (Zuri), Black Panther will be coming to cinemas this February 14.

Ballet And Ballads Combo, Why Not?

Ballet Manila’s 22nd performance season is set to close with the most star-studded installment of “Ballet & Ballads” yet. With final preparations underway, the audience should also prepare for a full showcase of the company’s storytelling prowess and mastery of the Vaganova technique.

Ballet Manila CEO and Artistic Director Lisa Macuja-Elizalde shares that it’s almost like a tradition in the performance season repertoire. Not only that, but also this format of combining a singer and ballet numbers makes their style of storytelling more appealing and more accessible to the audience. “It’s all about what the audience enjoys and what they would love to go back to,” shares Lisa.

The ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra has accompanied us in many past productions. And it is always a joy to perform with them.

Snapshots of a recent rehearsal of the orchestra with the singers. For Ballet & Ballads, the orchestra plays under the baton of guest conductor, Maestro Joshua Dos Santos.

Other guest performers are Christian Bautista, international baritone Andrew Fernando, scholars of the Klassikal Music Foundation, special participation of tenor Dr. George T. Yang.

“Ballet & Ballads” goes onstage at the Aliw Theater, Pasay City with the following remaining shows:

February  17 6:00 p.m.
February   18 3:00 p.m.
