In a surprising yet funny incident, Alex Gonzaga and Melai Cantiveros were ‘twinning’ over the same white jumpsuit. And it’s not just your ordinary ‘Who wore it better?’ case. Plot twist? What got netizens talking is the confusion on who is wearing bagong bili o bagong laba.

Being playful as they are, the two girls posted this on social media and asked their followers to guess whose OOTD is Bagong Bili and Bagong Laba. In just 24 hours, Alex and Melai’s posts has over 200,000 likes and comments across social media. Now, everyone is feasting over it and throwing their own guesses. Even their co-actors and friends from showbiz are joining in on the craze.

It’s probably the toughest guessing game on social media right now, and the answer remains a mystery!

Celebrity host and actor Luis Manzano quipped in his comment, “Teka teka ,napahinto ako dito at nagulat ha! Kita ko yung post ni@cathygonzaga at @mrandmrsfrancisco? SWIPE! The Importance of #OneForMarino

IEF, Inc, brings to life a campaign created to resolve a silent yet rampant problem of the Filipino seafarers, coined by the company as Business Gambling.

After months of rigid immersion, focus group discussions, research and interview, IEF, Inc. finally found one factor and the team eventually termed it as business Gambling.  After noting the matter, IEF, Inc. immediately and carefully designed a potent campaign to help provide a societal solution against it, hence, #OneForMarino was brought to life.

Kristine Marcelo, a CPA and the CEO of IEF, Inc, along with her agile team, dedicated their career into doing an in depth research to find out the probable cause of the recurring financial rat-race-problem among the seafarers.  Seafarers are champions of the Philippine economy and it’s contradicting that they end up attaining poor financial status upon their retirement.

#OneForMarino clearly defines business gambling as the seafarers’ impulsive and repetitive decision to invest in various businesses with minimum to completely insufficient knowledge and purely depending on chance or probability for return.

The campaign was named #OneForMarino, as this is a mission to collaborate with multiple organizations and sectors to create one strength for social good.  IEF, Inc, believes that the success of the campaign will be greatly influenced by the support of other organizations, especially those from the Maritime industry.

#OneForMarino will run from August 2018 to May 2019, with official Maritime launching to happen on July 27-28, 2019. The intention of this campaign is to saturate media platforms to reach out to as many seafarers and make them aware of the dangers, risks and solutions of business gambling.

The highlight of this campaign is to bring the FIRST EVER EXHIBIT + CONFERENCE to run 32 times during the campaign duration, aiming to reach over 15,000 participants.  This Exhibit + Conference is expected to be interactive, fun and highly igniting.

Catch Across the Crescent Moon at Cinematheque Manila

In observance of the 2018 World Day against Trafficking in Persons, the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT), Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO), and Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), will be holding a Cineforum featuring the film, Across the Crescent Moon on July 31, 2018 at the Cinematheque Manila.

The Cineforum is one of the main activities lined up for the week-long celebration of the global event in the Philippines, which mainly aims to raise public awareness on human trafficking. It will be graced by the film’s director and producer Ms. Baby Nebrida,  IACAT member agencies and partners led by the DOJ as IACAT Chair, the CFO (Usec. Astravel Pimentel-Naik) and the FDCP (Chairperson Liza Diño).

In 2013, the United Nations General adopted a resolution designating July 30 as the World Day against Trafficking in Persons. This resolution declared that such a day was necessary to “raise awareness of the situation of victims of human trafficking and for the promotion and protection of their rights.”

The award-winning masterpiece of Ms. Nebrida (heralded as the Ambassador for Peace by the International Parliamentarians), is a good eye-opener to the problem of human trafficking in the Philippines. The protagonist, portrayed by Matteo Guidicelli, is a Muslim soldier who battles human trafficking and other crimes in the Southern part of Mindanao while keeping his marriage to his Christian wife (Alex Godinez) intact. The film highlights the perils of modern-day slavery and digs deeper into kidnapping, abduction, and illegal recruitment, as three modes of trafficking in the Philippines. It also tackles the uniqueness of inter-faith relationships, echoing the importance of unity despite tremendous religious and cultural differences. The film has garnered numerous international acclaims such as “Best Ensemble Cast and Best Feature Global Film” by the International Film Festival Manhattan and “Best Film” by the Catholic Mass Media Awards.

Human trafficking is a crime that exploits men, women, and children for numerous purposes including forced labor and sex. The International Labour Organization estimates that 21 million people are victims of forced labor globally. This estimate also includes victims of human trafficking for labor and sexual exploitation. From 2016 until the current year, the Philippine government, through the IACAT headed by the DOJ, has consistently ranked Tier 1 in the US Department of State’s Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Report. This means that the government fully meets the minimum global standards for the elimination of trafficking. The launch of IACAT’s 1343 Actionline Against Trafficking in 2011 marked the commitment of our government in eliminating threats of human trafficking, slavery, and abuse.
