Takbo.PH RunFest 2015
July 12, 2015
500m, 5K, 10K, 21K
BGC, Taguig
It was awesome running my fave distance of 5KM last July 12 Sunday at Bonifacio Global City for the Takbo.PH RunFest 2015 event. Well, I had my own gunstart since I came in fashionably “late”, but was able to catch up with many more runners, and finished at a descent time and pace, haha!
Our good friends and organizers of Takbo.PH led by Jinoe Gavan, Wife Que, Doc Lyndon with mighty Donna Fuentes and rest of the team put up (as always) fun in their runs. CONGRATULATIONS! Their runfest is one of the most sought after events by the running community alongside with Run United and MILO in particular. Many more runners are in their training modes for these marathon greats!
There was a pre-race warm up via Zumba. A fitting way to jazz up the day. Thank heavens, the weather cooperated, no heavy downpour, just a mild drizzle when the sun peaked shortly after sunrise. It was a glorious day to hit the road especially to all runners who took the half marathon route until the usual turn around along Gil Puyat Ave. in Makati and back to BGC.
According to Doc Lyndon of Leadpack Races, the 21KM category had the most number of runners and it took all of them roughly two minutes to cross the starting line as shown by the video he took!
It was nice to be cheered by runner friends along the route who were also the volunteer marshalls. Thank you to runner-photographer friends, we also have cool and crazy running photos!
This event also allowed Make A Wish Foundation to have it’s own 500 meter walk led by several corporate groups supporting the cause. They were a cool sight to watch. And because of this, a child’s wish was able to come true.
Aside from the cool finisher’s medal distributed to everyone, I personally love the Celebrate Running mug given to all finishers. It is a testament that running has been a favorite hobby and recommended sport in the many facets of fitness and health. That through running, we gain better over all body condition plus gain more friends who share the same passion of the discipline.
Here’s to your next exciting sporting events, Jinoe, Que and Doc Lyndon! Many thanks for the invite. I tremendously had fun and it showed in all my photos! Very happy to also be with runner friends I missed being with on a regular weekly basis during run events. Excited for the next one!
