Jolly University Cook Off Tour – National University

LetranIMG_20150227_153140Happy JOLLY Day guys!

Remember the blog post on my JOLLY University campus cook out tour of Letran? Just recently we were invited by Ms. MJ Cordova of Fly Ace Corporation, the team behind JOLLY’s food and vegetrable products to witness their final campus stop over at National University in Sampaloc, Manila. Popularly known as NU, this campus has zoomed to the top thanks to their outstanding take as back-to-back UAAP’s Cheerdance Pep Squad champs and the Bulldogs basketball players are playing their best games to date.

This time NU will try its hand on the culinary world and will they emerge in the Top Ranks of JOLLY University’s Grand Culinary Cook Out Finals?

Back to the prelims cook out and while the competing three teams were busy cooking it out in the kitchen lab, the HRM students in the other lecture room were digesting a short talk on Wines 101 by Ms. Jasmine Capule of Fly Ace Corporation (beverage group) It was very interesting tolearn that anyone can appreciate the art of getting to know red and white wines and in betweens.

it was great to see and hear Chef Nina Daza-Puyat share her talk with the HRM students on her personal experience as chef of many years having travelled a lot to learn and discover many food cultures abroad and her memorable years living in France where she helped manage some food business with their mom, the equally famous Ms Nora V. Daza!

Chef Nina pointed out that as Filipinos, we should be proud of our food and culture.

Moreover, PR and Digital Media Marketing Associate Manager Ms MJ Cordova also gave a brief lecture on the five Basic Steps of making a product be known in the market. One should know the media landscape, develop a PR strategy among others were important steps.
After further scrutiny and evaluation by the judges, among the three teams who competed in the kitchen, it was Team J-J-P Girls who emerged the victors and automatically represents National University to the Grand Cook Out Finals on March 7 2015 at Robinson’s Place Manila.
Great job to members Chezper Ann Carullo, Jennilyn Merin and Michelle Ann Mori! Your main course and dessert were tops!
And now the list is complete. All 12 schools have their own reps for the JOLLY University Grand Finals! Good luck to all finalists. But before the big day on March 7, all qualified teams underwent and went thought a two-day whole day Boot Camp from Feb 28 to March 1 to further enhance their business behavior and etiquette as a whole among others. The finalists also received one-on-one mentorship from the food and beverage industry leaders including leadership, digital marketing and personality development skills.
