In Retrospect: A POPTastic Year Ender for SYKES! Here’s 7 Reasons Why

For almost a decade and a half, the BPO or call center aka Sunshine Industry has boomed and provided endless career growth opportunities to people who are up for the challenge.

Not everyone knows that SYKES company is one of the pioneers in jump starting the now in-demand call center business. Proud to be stable and growing, SYKES had their Year-End Celebration (YEC) 12.14.2014 at the SMX Convention Center graced by its 6,000 employees and management brass. Their Cebu hub of 3,000 employees co-celebrated with their Manila site and had on-camera updates. Ain’t that cool?

Yours truly got a kind invite and i can personally say I was impressed on how massive this event was considering SYKES occupied the entire ground floor of SMX! That’s about four huge halls in one! Perfect venue to fit all of its 6,000 stronghold employees and management brass.

I event got the chance to meet Black Eyed Peas on my in the said venue. Thank you Apl for our cool photo op!

Here’s my 7 take away’s from the 2014 POPTastic event in retrospect:

1) The annual event was hosted by the three busiest male hosts I know. DJ Tony Toni, Slick Rick and funny man Sam YG, alongisde with the lovely Karen Pamintuan, female host for Lifestyle Network. They kept the show stitched together from start until end with a lot of punchlines and laughter. Meeting and a quick chat with them backstage before show start was a fun bonus!

2) The company did not miss to express its gratitude to all its loyal employees who stuck with them thus honored respective personel for the past 5 , 10 and 15 years via its Service Award. Time realy flies so fast when you’re having fun!

3) The SYKES employees went wild and cheered for their fellow employees when some of them went head to head to a K-Pop-themed dance showdown armed with impressive props, high energy choreography and dazzling costumes. Featured dance judges included Lema Diazm Maneuvers choreographer Joshua Zamora and straight from South Korea, Dasuri Choi who herself has made some local TV guestings. The Metro Manila South group won the coveted crown and title. Super
congrats guys!

4) SYKES Director for Branding and Communications Cecile Moreno-Venancio says the YEC is an opportunity for the company to showcase the culture of support it is very much proud of. “In a company as big as ours, so we make sure that they all feel valued.”

5) Santa SYKES gave away P1.5 million worth of exciting raffle prizes and lucky winners went home with their new IPads, IPad and Samsung cellphones and other dream gadgets! Awesome way of getting rewarded for working hard…I’m green with envy, haha!
elyely36) Eraserhead’s founder and former lead vocalist Ely Buendia brought the house down with his mini-concert featuring the band’s greatest hits Alapaap, Ang Huling El Bimbo and Magasin, which is my all-time favorite! Wohoo! This brought back fond memories of the ’90s boyband era and this wow moment was well captured via social media. Ely I loooove youuuu!!! Good luck with PupiL!

7) A grand event won’t come complete without great food right? The sumptuous dinner was from Hizon’s which was undeniably mega yummy! Drinks stubs of soda and beer were up for grabs and claimed in orderly fashion.

SYKES VIPs Senior Management Leaders Van Ormer, Senior Operations Director Marc Guison and Operations Director Kennet Juarez were among the honored who mingled and celebrated with their workforce.

This remarkable company knows how to work hard and party harder. A well-taken cared for personel will also generate best results and well-deserved opportunities.

Congratulations SYKES Philippines and may your tribe grow more and increase this
Happy New Year 2015!
**Many thanks Mark Delgado for the kind invite!
