Mariah Carey in Manila 2014 – A “Feel Good” Comeback Concert

Mariah Manila2After eleven long years, Pop Diva of the 90’s singer-songwriter MARIAH CAREY made a Manila comeback Octoiber 28 during her one-night show held at the Mall of Asia Arena. She just embarked on her latest world tour billed The Elusive Chanteuse Show which kicked off in Tokyo, Japan last October 4 to promote her nth tudio album Me.I Am Mariah The Elusive Chanteuse.

Mariah arrived in the Philippines last October 27 at 3AM following a show in Taiwan and previously in South Korea, China, Malaysia and Singapore. She was warmly welcomed by her Mariah Carey PH loyal fans and supporters who camped complete with tarpaulins in front of Sofitel Hotel a few hours before her early morn arrival via chartered plane. One of my runner friends, Ivan Patrick Camposano, a certified Mimi fan was also there wearing a persoinalized MC shirt with welcome
placards! Wooow!

Mariah Manila6When Mariah and her entourage started this world tour a few weeks ago, she was criticized for having vocal malfunction especially on the high notes her trademark during the Japan leg. We must take note that MC’s last tour was way back 2006 and vocal issues is very unavoidable plus the fact that she’s also not getting any younger.

But last night during her Manila leg, Mariah got redemption! She was in her known vocal element as she belted out most of her classic and familiar songs to thousands of fans who all jampacked the Mall of Asia Arena and savored her rare presence and timely comeback after 11 years. Her fans of the 90s most have their own sons and daughters now and are also singing to her tunes.

Roll call on her set list: Fantasy, Touch My Body, Shake It Off, Emotions, My All,
Always Be My Baby, Honey, Heartbreaker, Supernatural (dedicated to her twins
Monroe and Moroccan who were in the crowd), Thirsty, I’ll Be There (duet with Trey
Lorenz) among others.

And before the concert ended, Mimi belted out “Mahal kita Manilaaaa!” to the delight and swoons of her loving crowd and lambiliies.

Thank you Mariah for a “feel good” concert that’s going to stay in our hearts and minds for a very looong tme! Don’t worry, your whistle pipes are still very much there ☺

The rest of her Asian leg includes Thailand, Australia and New Zealand.
